Phillies Even NLDS 1-1 in a Thriller
Nothing is over! The big boys
in the Phillies lineup woke up in time to turn a 3-0 deficit into a must have
7-6 victory over New York to tie the Division Series, 1-1. Bryce Harper and
Nick Castellanos hit back-to-back homers to tie the game in the bottom of the 6th
inning, tying the game and breathing life into the series. Despite pitching
giving the lead back to the Mets in the 7th and eventually allowing
them to tie the game in the 9th inning, the Phillies – not the Mets,
who the Fox broadcasters simply can’t stop rooting for – kept coming back. Bryson
Stott tripled in the bottom of the 8th to bring in Harper and
Castellanos and put the Phils ahead, 5-4. JT Realmuto brought Stott in for a much-needed insurance run. Reliever Matt Strahm couldn’t close it out, unbelievably
giving up a 2-run homer to tie the game. But once again, the big boys came
through. With 2 outs in the bottom of 9th inning, Trae Turner
walked, and Bryce Harper narrowly missed having the potential game-winning hit
with a foul ball to the wall and eventually walked. Castellanos stepped up and
knocked in Turner for the game-winning run.
This team looked dead. Now, a huge game awaits Aaron Nola and the Phillies Tuesday night in New York.
