Fishy Ending to Baltimore - Tampa MNF Game?
Apparently, no one wants to
talk about last night. No one in the media wants to talk about how the
Baltimore Ravens scored a touchdown with 6:32 left in the game to go ahead
41-18 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and almost didn’t cover a point spread
that, from what I saw, had gone from 3.5 points favoring Baltimore up to 4.5
before the game.
Yes, I bet the Ravens at -4.5
for a big bet on my bank roll.
The Bucs proceeded to score a
touchdown, recover an onside kick – I believe the broadcast said it was the second
successful onside kick all season – scored another touchdown, forced a
3-and-out after a failed onside kick and after the Ravens took out Lamar
Jackson and Derrick Henry, and were feverishly attempting to score a third straight
touchdown with a little more than 90 seconds to play. Even after their starting
wide receiver incurred a major injury to his leg with about one minute left –
the second injury to their starting receivers for the game – they continued to
try to score to make the score potentially 41-38 with a TD and extra point. Ultimately,
they failed, losing 41-31.
As this was going on, the only mention
from the broadcast about the point spread was a wry comment that things were suddenly interesting for some
people.
Play to the end. Never give up.
I get it. I’m certainly not suggesting that I know anything improper occurred,
and obviously I don’t hear every media outlet. I also don’t believe that the NFL
is rigged.
But last night looked pretty fishy. The silence on the topic from people covering the league that makes millions from sportsbooks advertising during their games, makes it smell fishy.
