NFL Week 16 Picks

The Eagles absolute choke against Seattle cost me a winning week as I finished 1-2 for -$28.38. I know no one wants to hear a losing gambler grouse, but letting a Drew Lock drive his then 6-7 team down the field with less than 2 minutes left in the game for the go-ahead touchdown is pathetic. Then we (at least, I) find out Nick Sirianni changed defensive coordinators mid-week on a 10-3 team. And, oh, by the way, throwing a deep pass that gets intercepted when you’re 15 to 20 yards from field goal range to tie it up with about 15 seconds left was a nice cap to the game.

Keep lovin’ on Nicky, Philly.

The Eagles are 13.5-point favorites against the Giants on Christmas day. The Eagles shouldn’t be 13.5-point favorites against Santa and his elves right now.

So far, I like Miami -1.5 over Dallas, another fraud team on the road, and the 49ers -5.5 over the Ravens. Teaser possibilities with the Chiefs -10 over the Raiders, Bills -12.5 at the Chargers, and . . . a third team. Maybe Denver -7 over the Patriots? The Packers -4 at the Panthers?

Birds Trade for O-lineman; Week-in-Review

The Eagles have traded for left tackle Jason Peters, giving up the 28th selection and a fourth-rounder in the draft plus an undisclosed pick in 2010 according to ESPN.com. This is classic Birds, and doesn’t excite me a little bit. Yes, it’s the prudent move, but it just doesn’t get it done. I’ve already heard this takes the Eagles out of the running for Anquan Boldin, who the Arizona Cardinals have announced is available for trade. The Eagles are like the stodgy parents that never give the kids what they want. No, you can’t have the shiny toy, we’re going to put the money towards college. Problem is, it just doesn’t work in the NFL . . . and the Eagles’ Super Bowl trophies total proves it. This team needs to go get a stud receiver, and, once again, they’re not going to do it. NFL Week 4, College Picks 🏈 Peeking at the Phillies World Series Odds ⚾

A 4-1-1 record for $26.70 with picks last week was a nice bounce back on the blog. Nice, not great, considering the total. But I had to go with what I felt. I just didn’t love any of the games last week. It’s a good example of why gambling on sports is all about the money total. 💰 I guarantee there’s plenty of guys selling picks online who would be crowing about a 4-1-1 record, but it doesn’t mean squat if they didn’t put an amount on each wager. If the one loss is a big bet and the four wins are for minimum amounts, it could be nothing but a losing week. By the way, I have zero intentions of ever selling picks. I don’t understand why anyone would ever buy anyone else’s pick. 🤔 It’s stupid. The point spread makes these games a toss-up. Do you really think some guy yelling into his iPhone camera knows more about a game than the people setting the line? There’s just no reason to buy a pick. My whole thought in putting picks on the blog is to have some fun with readers. I’m a guy
